PCs don't always join domain after reimaging lab

Thread needs solution

Ok, this is my second post. This issue has been bugging me for the last 2 years ever since I've installed Acronis on the network. Acronis' tech support didn't have any ideas. I've just learned to live with it.

When I image a lab, I go through the wizard and tell the PCs to join the domain after reimaging. I just got done reimaging a lab of about 30 PCs. Of the 30 PCs I reimaged, probably about 7 or so didn't join the domain. They joined a workgroup that had the same name as the domain.

Biggest problem I've had with this Acronis server is, when I convinced the district to buy this software, I wanted it because it was going to save me time. It does save time, but I find I have to doublecheck everything it does because it messes up the deployments a lot.

You have better luck than we do, we have had 1 out of over 100 deployments actually work.

Hello David and John!

Thank you for finding time to open a thread regarding this questions. I'm very sorry for you've faced inconvenience with the software, and I will be glad to assist you.

There can be many reasons for the problem, so it requires investigation. David, I've checked our cases database, but couldn't find a support case opened by you. Could you please tell us its number so that we could check the logs, if available?

John, we would also appreciate if you could gather the following diagnostic data:

  1. OS Patcher logs
    - Please send us a copy of %Windows%\Debug\ folder from the restored system (after boot up) and the logs of Snap Deploy "patcher", the names of which look like "os_patcher[dd.mm.yy].log" and are located in %Windows%\System32\ folder.
    - If there is a window with message saying that the system is being patched and it prevents you from logging into Windows, then please click on the red "X" to close the window. This should allow you to log into the system.
  2. Agent logs
  3. OS Deploy Server logs

open a support request, and let us know it's number.

This data may shed the light onto the situation faced. Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!
