Quick questions about Snap Deploy (Considering big purchase)

Thread needs solution

I am short on time (sound familiar?) so rather the download & test, I just need to know a few things about Snap Deploy (in any of its flavors). I have downloaded the user manuals, which did now show what I need to know. It could be that Snap Deploy just won't fit our needs, but I'd really like to offer my boss something as an option to Symantec. So here are my questions:

1) After capturing an image, does Snap Deploy allow you to browse/inject/extract files from that image?

2) What's the time-line for Windows 7 support?

3) Can Snap Deploy apply an image to a VM?

4) Can Snap Deploy store encrypted images (I see that can encrypt the image data stream during deployment; I want to know about the stored image).

5) Does SD offer different levels of image compression (yes, we store a bunch of images here).

Thanks!!!!

Hello Harry,

Welcome to the forum and thank you for posting. I will definitely answer your questions.

1. That is not possible with Snap Deploy 3 at the moment. As a workaround, you can install the Management Console component from our other product called Acronis Backup and Recovery 10, it does not require a license, and you will be able to browse/inject/extract files from that image.

2. We just released a new build which allows to do this.

3. Virtualization is not something we support yet with Snap Deploy 3, but you can work with VMs the same way as with physical machines.

4. You can try using third party encryption software to store the images, and then remove the encryption prior to deployment.

5. Yes, you can definitely compress the images, there are 4 settings - none, normal, high and maximum.

Should you have additional questions, please let me know.

Thank you.
