Unable to deploy image from External USB Hard Drive

Thread needs solution

Hello All,

I'll try to keep this short and sweet. I recently purchased a 2TB External USB Hard drive. My plan was to move my images from a network location to the new external drive to speed up the deployment process. No problem, right?

Upon attempting to deploy an image for the first time from my new external drive, I am greeted with a message that basically states that the external drive I am deploying FROM is a LOCAL DRIVE on the PC and that deployment is not possible (As if I was trying to deploy an image from the C:\ drive itself.)

What's the story with this? Anyone else run into this problem?

TIA,
Paul

I would be curious to see your work flow...

Have you tried making sure that you have correct image / partition selected? And are you using the stand alone media?

Perhaps it's an issue with my new drive (Western Digital 2TB USB) that I'm trying to deploy from?

FYI - I am deploying using the stand-alone utility. There is no confusion on my end as to what image I'm using or what partition I'm deploying to. I've been doing this for a few years now over the network without an of these issues. Just doesn't like my 2TB USB drive for some reason.

I am able to deploy using an older 500GB USB drive without trouble. In fact I deployed two images to two different PCs this morning with the older drive.

I just can't understand why the Stand alone utility thinks my 2TB USB is an internal drive. Makes no sense.

Just out of curiosity, have you tried a different dock or adapter? Maybe it is the controller that is making it freak out? If that doesn't work, maybe try a different method of connecting (1394, FW800, eSATA).
