Accidentally included the destination HDD in the source list for partition backups - what happens

Thread needs solution

What does Acronis True Image 2016 do when the destination HDD is accidentally included in the source list for partition backups? ATI 2016 reports that backups have been successfully completing. It reported that both the source and destination were selected for backup. It seems logical that ATI 2016 would ignore the destination drive included in the source list, but I can find no confirmation of that. ATI issued no warnings and no errors. I would feel more comfortable if I knew what was actually backed up.

Win, in the situation that you describe, i.e. including the destination drive in your source selection for the backup task, ATIH 2016 will backup data from that drive but by default will exclude all Acronis .TIB backup image files on that drive.  See image below (taken from ATIH 2017 but very similar for 2016).

You can, of course, go back into the Source selection for the backup task, and deselect the destination drive.
