Acronis Secure Zone has drive letter?

Thread needs solution

I must be doing something wrong.  I noticed a few days ago that the ASZ was accessable from Windows (10) without a password.  It came up automatically as drive letter J and I could not make it go away.  A google search lead me to a post for ABR saying that this happens whenever the Recovery Manager is turned on and there was a fix on the way, but that was 5 months ago.

What is the point of having a secure zone if it is accessible from Windows?  What is the point of having ATIH2016 without secure zone.  Yuor backups are not protected from Crypto-whatever.  Can this still be broken or is it broken again?  I think I only noticed this behavior in the last couple of weeks.  So it must be due to a ATIH2016 update or a Windows 10 update.  Not only ASZ was visible, but other "hidden" paritions were visible as well.  When I turned off the recovery manager, they all went away.

Jim,

I have also seen this behaviour with ATIH 2016 and even managed to report it to Acronis development via ticket #02621117 but was given the following reply by their support engineer investigating it:

Your two questions below remain without answer:
Why does Acronis True Image reveal hidden system partitions?
Why does Acronis Startup Recovery Manager insist on using the hidden Recovery partition?

The behavior that we saw in your case did not reproduce in our labs, meaning that we still have not found the detail/peculiarity that differs your setup from standard setup in our testers` environment.

The ticket was passed over to the development team, however, they are currently unable to work on it due to lack of development resources for that.

I will need to close the ticket as unresolved.

We have 2 different systems: 1 for interacting with customers and another - for tracking all technical issues.
I will have to close only our front-end ticket, because there will be no progress on the issue fixing in the nearest reasonable time (next several weeks at least), however the ticket about the technical problem remains opened in the second system. It will be present on developers`radars until they resolve it.

See also https://forum.acronis.com/forum/109608 though I resolved it myself by not using the Acronis Recovery Manager - I also don't use the ASZ after needing to recover files from it one time using a boot CD and not being able to identify between different backup images held there for different partitions due to the inability to name the images myself.

Hello all,

I've checked the support case and the related task for the development team (Acronis Secure Zone becomes a mounted volume when ASRM is activated), the fix is expected to be implemented in the upcoming Update 2.

Thank you,
