Acronis TI shows one backup ... external drive shows two??
Good morning,
For the record I am using an All-In-One HP Pavilion 23-g017c (x64) AMD A6-5200 APU w/Radeon HD Graphics, running Windows 10, Version 1607, Build 14393.351, using the Edge Browser while utilizing Windows Firewall and Windows Defender as my major security programs.
I just installed the new Build (6581) for Acronis TI 2016 a few days ago and then created a new Backup.
Now ... I notice in the TI Program it shows this last backup but nothing else (I had previously created another one about 10 days before my latest one). When I check my External Hard Drive where I save my backups it shows both backups.
(1) Just curious why it doesn't show my first one in the TI progran itself?
(2) Since my first one is not listed in the Acronis program does that mean it wouldn't work if I needed to use that backup?
(3) What do I have to do to get every backup I create to be listed on my backup page in Acronis?
Thanks and regards,

Hi Steve,
I think I figured out why I was only seeing one entry in my Acronis GUI... I didn't click the '+' sign before making the 2nd backup.
So, to see if my 74 year old brain housing group was thinking correctly I deleted both backups from my External and cleared the single entry from my Acronis GUI. I then ran a new 'Entire PC' backup. After that was successful I clicked on the '+' sign on the GUI page and made another "Entire PC' backup. That was successful too.
Now both show as backups on the GUI page as well as on my External Hard Drive.
Since I had just downloaded and installed this latest build a few days ago I went ahead today and made a new 'Bootable Rescue Media' on a Flash Drive. I think I read somewhere that it would be wise to make a new Bootable Rescue media if you update your program.
Hopefully, I will never need to use any of my backups or Bootable Rescue Media but I guess I am ready should the need arise.
I appreciate you taking the time to pass on your expertise and help.
Thanks and regards,

Glad to hear that all is looking good again. 74 isn't so old in relative terms, just means you are just over 5 years older than myself..! I just call my mistakes as 'Senior moments' these days and hope they don't get to be too regular!
With the new bootable rescue media, it is a good idea to give it a dry run sometime just to know that it will work as expected should the day dawn when you may need to use it in ernest!

Hi Steve,
Any chance you could give me the steps to follow to accomplish this 'dry run'?
Thanks and regards,

The steps are fairly straight forward assuming that you know how to access your BIOS boot choice menu (sometimes called the boot override menu) - often F12 on Dell systems, or can make a temporary change to your BIOS Boot device / priority options to put your USB media ahead of your main disk drive.
The next step is knowing what boot method is used by your Windows OS - this can be either UEFI or BIOS/MBR - the rescue media needs to be booted by the same method, so when you access the boot override menu, you need to take the appropriate option if you see multiple options for the USB drive.
See webpage: Check if your PC uses UEFI or BIOS for help in checking the boot mode.
The final step is to boot from the rescue media and check that when the standalone Acronis application starts, that you can click on Backup and see all your disk drives & partitions, including your external backup drive. Then click on Recover and check that you can navigate to one of your backup image files and then dig down to some of the files and folders within this.
There is no need to actually perform either a backup or recovery, but you can do so if you want to take it a step further. If testing Recovery, just select to restore a folder or some files to a temporary place rather than doing the whole OS drive etc.

Hi Steve,
Wow! That is what I call excellent step by step instructions.
I will check it out when I have more time on the computer.l Right now my wife is anxiously awaiting for me to get off ...lol
Mastering how to boot from my Flash Drive instead of my Internal Hard drive will be my first challenge ...lol
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Thanks and regards,
