Acronis True Image 2016 Locks on Windows Shutdown

Thread needs solution

Gooday, i have been using ATI 2016 for a few months now for backups and cloning and my PC was shutting down just fine except from last week. from only a week ago when i shutdown my PC it locks up and i have to switch off power to shut it down. the only clue i have is when i select shutdown the following message is displayed, then nothing happens. i even left it for two hours just to se if it was slow to shutdown, but no i just had to turn it off as it had locked up. the message on screen was as follows.

Acronis true image is terminating the current operations, please wait.
The computer will be turned off automatically in about two minutes.

the strange thing about it is that i was not using ATI, so did not have any operations to terminate. and this has been the case everyday for the last week. i do have a work around and that is to go into task manager amd terminate everything acronis before i shutdown. only after acronis tasks are turned off, then will the PC shutdown as it should without any lockups.

does anybody know whats causing this issue to start in the last week? any suggestions for a fix to it?

lookiing forward to your replies. regards, michael.

Michael, I am sorry to advise that this is a known issue which the Acronis developers are hoping to fix in a new update to ATIH 2016 to be released sometime soon.

The work-around at present is to do a clean install of ATIH 2016 which others have found to resolve the problem while we wait of an updated build to be released.

To do a clean install, use the Acronis Cleanup Tool - link in my signature below - you can also use an uninstaller program like Revo Uninstaller or IObit Uninstaller if you prefer - then once all traces of the program are removed, reinstall ATIH 2016 build 6027 and recreate your backup tasks again.

gooday Steve, many thanks for your prompt reply.

will do a clean install as you suggested and just wait like everyone else for the new updated ATIH.

i'm just wondering how long after the new install will this problem reappear. regards, michael.

Michael, I think we are all, including the Acronis engineers & developers, hoping that this problem will be resolved / fixed permanently with the next build update.  No-one wants to see this rearing its head again (and again.....).
