ATI 2016 Takes 5-10 min to load

Thread needs solution

Anyone had this problem
Build 5634 WIN 10
I have 2 Pc's, desktop at WIN 7 and laptop @ WIN10.
WIN 7 runs ATI2016 with no issues.
WIN10 was on WIN 7 6 days ago and ATI 2016 was fine.
Upgrade from WIN 7 to WIN 10 now ATI 2016 is flaky
Double clicking ATI2016 you see a quick "working icon" and it quickly goes away.
5-10 MINUTES later ATI 2016 splash screen appears.
I have found that running as admin and WIN7 compatibility modes seem the 'best' I can get it to load -still 5-10 minutes.
Once 'loaded' ATI2016 seems to work ok.

This Iffy functionality concerns me in that I have lost the confidence backup SW should provide.

There have been issues with long loading times during the BETA of ATIH 2016 but 5636 is loading pretty quickly (about 6 seconds after UAC message, Windows 10, 64bit)

Have you disabled UAC for instance?

Thx for reply:
UAC is OFF
Firewall is disabled:
Just tried REPAIR part of UNINSTALL
all no joy.

Going to uninstall, run cleaner then re-install now that WIN10 is native

please try with UAC enabled. Please also post your specs (cpu-z.log at best)

great

What is UAC? I run Win7 and the program takes over 2 min to load. I assume it is also loading the entire backup. In addition I now can no longer add a second type back up.; It worked initially but now that everything is slower it appears that doesnt work as well. My mani backup of Entire PC to a one Tig drive still appears to be working. So what is UAC? Is that important to my issue? My PC is 3.1 with 8 meg of ram, is 2 minutes to load common?

UAC is Windows User Account Control which is the popup you see when you install an app that asks if your sure you want to do that.  This should be effecting your app load times.

Slow load times can be attributed to a number of factors.  If this is a recent development I would first run a repair on the app installation.  You can do this slelcting the Add/Remove programs feature in Control Panel.  Select Acronis True Image in the list of applications and choose Remove or Uninstall.  This will produce a menu from which you will have the option of running a repair.  Choose that option and let the repair routine run.  After that has completed, shutdown (do not reboot) your machine and then restart the machine cold.  Test out the True Image app and see if the problem still persists.

Well it loaded 5 seconds faster after doing the repair but I am still unable to add a new backup to my existing one. I wanted to use another drive and only back up files and folders on that one. It keeps (not responding) and then allows me nothing and never finds the drive. It did when I bought it a few months ago and then started acting weird.

In that case I woul recommend a complete uninstall of the True Image app, runnning the cleanup tool linked to below following all instructions, and then reinstall the app.

Thank you I will try that tomorrow after making sure everything is protected. I wondered wether a complete install would work. I will have to reinstall the app allowing for any hardware to be used to restart as well. Thqank you again and Ill respond when it is all done in a day or so. Bill

Hello William,

Before doing complete reinstallation I suggest you to run another incremental backups for your system drive (I hope you are running them regularly). If clean reinstall will not help, you could always return back to working state without the need of reconfiguring all of your backup tasks from scratch. You can use a special cleanup tool https://kb.acronis.com/content/48668 for reinstallation. Reboot the computer after using this tool.

If the issue will persist, I would suggest you to wait till the next update for Acronis True Image 2016, expected in the next 1-2 weeks approximately.

Regards,

Slava

Thank you Slava,
Good information. My main problem is I cannot add additional incremental backups. I could when initially purchased a few months ago.

I think since I do get a good "Entire PC" backup I will wait for the next update. How will I know about this?

Thank you,
Bill
