ATI builds 6569 & 6571 for PC

Thread needs solution

After receiving an update notice last Friday I downloaded and installed build 6569.

Today I received an update notice for 6571. After downloading the EXE and ISO updates I checked their MDS Checksums. The downloads were OK. I then compared checksums for 6569 & 6571 - they are identical!!!

This suggests both versions are exactly the same. Do I need to install 6571???

Appreciate your feedback - thanks, Lloyd

Lloyd, not sure why the MD5 checksums should show as the same but build 6571 is the very latest version and fixes one particular issue that caused an application crash when shutting down ATIH.

See the latest list of changes.

Thanks for your comments Steve.

The only explanation I can come to is - 6569 was released including the fix you reference. Then somone decided to release 6571 thinking it contained a new update for the issue you describe. There is no way two files containing even as little as a 1 byte difference could arrive at the same MD5 checksum.

I guess the other possibility is that 6571 was mistakenly released without the update and therefore is actually 6569! I hope not...

Lloyd, did you see the sticky post in the forum for the new 6571 build which advised of the single issue it resolved?

Yes I did - that's how I got started on this exercise.

Not sure I understand how this is related to my comments about the matching MD5 checksums...

Lloyd, my reference to the sticky was in reply to your comment: "I guess the other possibility is that 6571 was mistakenly released without the update and therefore is actually 6569!"  The sticky came directly from Acronis Support in response to questions as to why 6571 was being released so soon afer 6569.

I cannot give an answer about the MD5 checksums you would need to ask Acronis Support directly as I have no access to the Acronis Account systems.

OK Steve

I did not appreciate that you are not connected officially to Acronis. I guess "Volunteer" should have given it away.

Anyway let's give this a rest and agree that 6571 is the current version and should be installed.

Thanks for all your support. It's great to see individuals willing to voluntarily provide a service to the general public with no direct reward other than feeling good about helping others out. You qualify for that in spades.

Take care - Lloyd
