Backup on event Feature (Shutdown) stopped working after Windows 10 upgrade
Upgraded to TI 2016 in Sept in anticipation of Windows 10 upgrade. Upgraded to Win 10x64 end of October only to discover that the backup on event feature stopped working. All was working fine under Win 8.1x64 so I rechecked backup settings [all are correct] even tried to set up a new back up to back up on exit. Nothing works.
Called support and they refused to address unless I paid for single incident support because I was out of their 30 day support window. I don’t know why they call it support it’s anything but. To tell you the truth, with this kind of product support for the consumer market on an obvious OS/Product incompatibility it makes me wonder why a retail customer would want to buy it.
Anyone got any ideas as to what's going on with this TI 2016 feature and how to get it working again [or a work around]

Thanks for the post
just tried your suggestion ... still same result, no backup ... Still find it amazing that Acronis (lack of) support won’t look at the issue. Just received another email from them reminding me that I can “PAY” to have them look into the problem. You would think they would at least be curious about product issues under Windows 10. Just bad policy

OK, question, after you disabled hibernation did you shutdown (turn off) your PC? For the change in hiberntion setting to take effect the PC must be shutdown and cold booted. Sorry for that omission.

Restart the Acronis installation file and choose the repair opiton.
Hopefully, the repair overwrite will correct the situation.

Thanks to all that tried to assist. I decided to take a radical approach
I restored my system to the last good Windows 8.1 x64 then did a clean install of Windows 10, reinstalled my applications one at a time then I restored my data. It really pays to back up the System separately from Data, it made the restore from two different time periods possible.
Somehow that worked,
I hate not knowing what the root cause of the issue was but at least the backup is working again with the “Backup on Event” feature.

TRD,
Glad you got it sorted, that's good news. Would you confirm that you did in fact do a reboot of the machine, not a shutdown/restart? Would like to know as the complete shutdown of the computer is required to disable hibernation in Win 10, a reboot will not turn off hibernation.
If you can confirm I will attempt to get another user with a similiar problem to do that. Thanks.

An update
The issue reappeared so i did a little more research and here is the definitive work around for this system "BUG". It would seem that in windows 10 "faststart” is turned on by default and the system shut down is too quick for Acronis to catch thereby making backup on shutdown useless.
The fix is to simply turn off "faststart". Here are the instructions:
- In control panel select power options
- On the left side of the window select “choose the power buttons do.
- Uncheck “Turn on fast startup” and save the changes (you may have to select “change settings that are currently unavailable” at the top of the widow to allow you to unselect “faststart check box)
That’s all there is to it all of the “event” functions of Acronis 16 should now work.
I don’t know if or when Acronis will address this Bug or how anyone will even find out so I guess turning “faststart” back on will never happen.
Really POOR Support from and arrogant bunch of support / developers that were totally useless on this issue

The redsign of Windows 10 and the default turn on of the new Faststart feature makes use of a hybrid type shutdown in which hyberfile is used in part to achive. Therefore shutdown is never activated which would not trigger the backup at shutdown request. Catch 22!
