Backup Filenames
Hi,
I've just come over to Acronis from Symantec System Recovery 2013 (long time user and long story) and have been trying to set up a backup scheme that matches what I'd used previously. Pretty basic actually: I'd like to run twice weekly incrementals and then run full backups monthly, with a total of three months worth of backups maintained.
To do this I've created the twice weekly schedule and then selected a custom backup scheme: incremental with create full version after every 8 incremental versions (twice weekly times four is once monthly) and then, finally, store no more than 3 recent version chains (three months). Do I have this right?
At one point I needed to change this scheme because I noticed it wasn't doing what I thought I'd configured. Not sure if this is related to the question that follows: can someone explain the current list of backup files that are present in the destination location? Do these look correct for the above scheme?

Hi Steve, thanks for your post.
There are several aspects of the file list I provided that are peculiar to me:
1. The most recent file has an "_v1" suffix, but there is no corresponding "_v2" suffix (like there is for earlier files). Perhaps this file now includes both the previous "_v1" and "_v2" contents? I had been thinking "_v1" was my C: drive and "_v2" was my U: drive (a SCSI mounted RAID array).
2. What are the "-2" suffixed files?
3. Why is one of the files zero size?
4. Why is there no "_b2" (seems like this was skipped?)?
As I'm still getting used to ATI I'm looking closely at the backed up files to ascertain whether I've set up the backup scheme correctly and to ensure proper backup integrity. I did the same with Symantec's product early on and eventually got to a point where I could understand what all the various files were and how often they were being updated/retained.
Thanks again. Perhaps I should post this question to Acronis support instead of the user forum? Anyone know if this is an appropriate question for direct support?
