Bootable Media Builder creates Disk Director 12 in Demo Version only.

Thread needs solution

Last week i upgraded Acronis True Image from 2015 to 2016, Disk Director 12 was already installed.

(German Version)

I created a Universal Restore Bootable Media (USB Stick and DVD) from within TI including UR (32/64 Bit), TI 2016 (32/64 Bit and DD12 (32/64 Bit).

Now booting into Disk Director 12 it tells it's running in Demo mode.

So i uninstalled all Acronis Products, reinstalled Disk Director 12 (i have 3 Licenses) and created a Bootable Media from within Disk Director.  Booting into Disk Director it runs in full  licensed Version (no Demo hint)

Next i installed TI 2016 and UR2016.   Again created the Bootable Media with all product included and now DD12 again is in Demo Version.

All products are the latest builds downloaded from my german account (fully licensed.)

Is this a new bug ????

I concur to have the same issue. Tried 2 different sticks. To be honest this really brought me into trouble last week as I needed to delete a single partition with DiskDirector but wasn't able to, due to the demo limitation.

ATIH 2016 b5634, Disk Director 2012 b3234

Is there is difference behaviour on the demo limitation if you boot the Linux recovery in UEFI or classic style @Manfred?

Booting the DD 64 bit (UEFI) version results in:  (translated)

Program execution fails, press enter to continue..

Ramdisk can't get loaded, press enter to continue..

Linux Kernel can't get loaded, press enter to restart.

I checked this on 2 different Desktop computers and a Thinkpad Laptop.

These messages i received for the 32 bit and 64 bit version of Disk Director 12 in True Image 2015 version. For that reason i upgraded

to True Image 2016.

In my opinion it's time that acronis improves the product qualility.

Hello everyone.

This is a known issue and developers are working on it.

Thank you very much. I would also like to see an official german release update for DD12, as I am currently "forced" to use an english version to benefit of the latest fixes.

Acronis Disk Director Home 2012 b12.3234 is only available in english still, afaik.

The same with EU release. After several try/fail efforts, I have a "trial version" of DD on a bootable USB..

Until the bug is fixed, I made two bootable USB. One booting with Disk Director and another with True Image Home. You may use two 4 GB USBs. It's annoying, but it's a temporary solution.

Waiting for the Acronis fix.

I'm running Windows 10 on a Toshiba L755 Laptop with True Image 2016 and DD 12.

Hi, I am running into the same problem. It is now mid April 2016 and Acronis Universal restore media builder still creates only a demo version of the DiskDirector 12 on the dic despite having an activated DD12 installed on the PC.

Any workaround available (other than creating two disks/sticks) like copying some DD12 images between directories?

After a while I tried running the Bootable Media builder from within DiscDirector12 again. The Universal Restore showed up there as well.

Testing the image, DiscDirector wasn't the demo version anymore, but the full thing.

Created the Bootable Media from within DD12 as well and , yes , TI2016 (latest build 6559)  und UR are included, DD12 is the full version !!!

Only TI2016 appears in english though all products are installed in German.  Changing the Language during boot does not work,

CTL and SHIFT have no effect..

As mentioned before, the UR Bootable Media Builder started within TI2016 still crates a media with DD12 showing up in Demo mode !!!

.

It's not a problem for me to work with TI in english, but the support provided by Acronis is very poor !!!!!  I don't know why this problem can't be fixed..       I'm very dissatisfied !!!!!!

Manfred,

Please submit feedback through the app and submit an Acronis System Report with it.  I've logged this thread for additional attention in the MVP forum, but please also send Ekaterina Surkova (Acronis Support Engeinerr) a PM as well so that she takes a look at it too.

Hello Manfred,

Have you updated Universal Restore to the latest build? It is not updated automatically with the rest of the components, you need to download the latest installation file from your account and install it.

Regards,

Slava

Hello Slava,

yes, i downloaded TI2016 (build 6559) from my account AND Universal Restore (build 11.5.40028) which was listed under TI2016.

I completely removed DiskDirector12, TI2016 and UniversalRestore from my computer, reinstalled DD12, TI2016 and UR.

No change if building the Universal Restore  bootable Media from within TI2016, DD12 appears as Demo version.

But TI2016 is in German and with CNTL + Shift i can switch between English and German.

Regards,   - Manfred -

I have provided the requested feedback via True Image feedback  and added the System Report.

I also sent a PM to Ekaterina asking  her to take a look and hopefully provide a solution.

Manfred, thank you very much! I've forwarded your logfiles and description to our development team and will update this thread once I get any details on the investigation process.

Thank you,

Hello, Manfred.

I've looked at the System Report you have sent us and it seems that you have an outdated version of Disk Director installed. Please download the latest build of Disk Director 12 (build 3270) and update your installation.

I've checked Bootable Media creation with this build and everything seems to work as expected.

Good news!!!

I've updated Disc Director 12 to build 3270 and the problem is solved.

I created the Bootable Media on an USB Stick.

- first from within True Image 2016 - Universal Restore Media Builder. Included are Universal Restore,  True Image 2016  and Disc      Director 12 (32 and 64 bit).

- second from within Disc Director 12.

When booting this media, both versions now start True Image in German !! and Disc Director 12 as full Version.

So the problem is solved..

Thanks for your support..

PS: I wasn't aware of the new build 3270 of Disc Director 12 and no one mentioned that this new build will solve the reported problem.

Best regards,    - Manfred -

The problem here is that DD12 will not recognize build 3270 as new update and will not announce it when you launch the application. So basically the auto-updating feature lacks to promote the new release. But I concur that in earlier tests with b3270 the issue with demo mode and the rescue media is resolved.
