Can I dlete all before this -- ST500DM002-1BD142_full_b11_s1_v1-2.tib

Thread needs solution

HI,

I have many backups of the same drive and need to get rid of some going back a couple of months.

My latest backup was today ..

ST500DM002-1BD142_full_b11_s1_v1-2.tib

Would this be the start of a new sequence?

If so, could I delete all say before the last 'full'

Thanks

oz

David, I would not want to advice you based on the name of a single backup file, especially when that file indicates that there was another backup with the same name, hence why this one ends in _v1-2.tib (because a file with the same name was already present).

Perhaps the easiest and safest way around this question is to go another route.

Use the option for the backup task that created these files to 'Clone settings' which will create a duplicate task with the same name but prefixed by (1) - after doing this, remove the task settings for the original task using the Delete option.  This will also remove all references to these backup files from the Acronis Database files, after which you can safely delete any of the older backup files without causing a problem for the backup task.

With the new (1) backup task, I would suggest creating a new folder on your backup drive and pointing this task at that new folder, then rename the task to remove the (1) prefix and run it or schedule it to run later.
