Can Not Create Bootable CDR Disk
I am unable to create a bootable CDR disk because the disc size is 700MB and the bootable disk size will be 746MB. I don't even think CDR are manufactured that large. How can I create a bootable CDR?

Candace, you will need to use larger disks - such as DVD's - they are very cheap these days though - the directions say to use a CD-R, but that is not a requirement, any disc medium will be fine.
Alternatively, if you have a 1GB USB flash drive (or larger), you can make a bootable USB flash drive that will work just fine (I'd recommend them over a CD/DVD anyway, but that's just my personal preference).
Where did you download your .iso/.zip from? Your Acronis account will have your products and you can download the original bootable recovery .iso file from there. Alternatively, you can create bootable rescue media directly within Acronis and select the options to create a .iso or a bootable USB during the creation process:

I created a boot disk from the tools menu in Acronis 2016 and used a DVD. It did not work, would not boot. When I checked the tools menu it clearly stated that a DVD would not work, to create the bootable media using a CDR. I did end up creating a bootable media from a USB flash drive but I prefer a CDR so I wouldn't have to change my boot order.

I so much appreciate the reply Bobbo, but do you know why the DVD will not boot? I had purchased a larger hard drive and just wanted to image my backup onto the new drive. I put the bootable DVD into my computer, rebooted and it loaded to the Acronis boot screen and began to load......then nothing but a black screen. I tried several times, even leaving it for over an hour hoping it was just very slow to load but it never did.

Hi Candace,
Hmmm, I'm not sure in your case. Are you sure that you have a DVD Writer on your system. I just tested creating bootable media with the Acronis Rescue Media Builer using a DVD-R disc and it had no issue. I can boot with it as well. If your system only has a CD RW, it will physically not be able to use a DVD to write to. Some older PC's only have a CD-RW drive, others are DVD/CD-RW which means they can write or read CD's, but only READ DVD's. In order to write a DVD, it would have to be a DVD-RW drive.
If you only have a CD-RW and must create a bootable CD, instead of using the ATIH application, if you have not already downloaded and installed Universal Restore, go ahead and do that. You can create bootable media with Universal Restore and pick which items you want to include with that one to get your disc under 700MB (see screenshot)

What is your system make/model?
One other thought... if your bootable media did actually burn and is just blanking out - it may be how it is trying to boot (some systems are UEFI ...newer, some are BIOS/CSM/Legacy... older, and some let you boot either way). Not sure of your system make/model and boot capabilities, but often times, after you power down and start up the system, you can keep quickly pressing a specific button to get to a manual boot override menu and then pick what you want to boot to.
example:
UEFI CDROM
UEFI USB
Legacy CDROM
Legacy USB
The button that needs to be pushed is different from system to system though so you'd have to check wiht your manufacturer. Usually though, Dell's are F12, HP is usually ESC or F1, Asus is usually ESC or F1.
See the screenshot of an example Dell system after pressing F12 as soon as they system started up. If you can find such a menu on your system, you can try different options to see if selecting one or another makes any difference.

Hey Bobbo,
I have a late 2015 model Microtel desktop computer (MT8011, Intel i7, 32GB of 1600mhz Memory, 24X DVD-RW Drive, Liquid cooled Nvidia Geforce 970 GTX 4GB video card, msi military class 4 motherboard, in a RaidMax cooled case, 800 watt power supply running 64 bit Windows 10). Sorry, had to look that up!
When I was attempting to boot to it, I had set the boot order to the DVD drive. I have now make bootable media to a 2GB USB stick and a new DVD-R disk I just burned.
Maybe I had a bad DVD-R or something weird. Believe me, if there are 100,000 DVD-R disk manufactured, I'll be the one to get the bad batch!
Thank you so very much for all your kind help. I'm postitve I'm good to go now. You are much appreciated!

Excellent! Sounds like you have a nice system! I was curious in case you needed help with the boot options, but looks like it was just a bad disk - go figure. I have that kind of luck too. I got tired of making "coasters" and the USB flash drives have worked great. They are both UEFI and Legacy/CSM/Bios compatible so hopefully you'll only need the one.
