Cannot save my backup scheme settings

Thread needs solution

All was going great until I got the latest update. This did not work (see below) and so I reinstalled the old version. Still the same problem.

Problem: I cannot save my backup scheme settings. I want a differential scheme, with 2 backups a day with 14 differential versions before a full backup, and with cleanup keeping 10 versions. I save it, I press OK, but when I review (found the problem when I got to 25 versions) all that was in my backup was the "create only differential versions after the first full backup".

Any ideas why this problem is occuring? I cannot find an anwser anywhere, so am resorting to this forum

Thanks,

Glenn

Hello Glenn, there seems to have been a few problems for various users when doing the upgrades for 6559 or 6569 versions where the only real cure that we have found was to do a new clean install.

To do this, uninstall the program via the Control Panel (or use an uninstaller such as Revo).

Run the Acronis Cleanup Tool (link in my signature below), then restart the computer.

Reinstall the ATIH software (download a fresh copy from your Acronis Account if needed or if you don't have the latest build version installer).  Run the install as an Administrator (right-click on the installer to take this option).

Note: The cleanup tool will remove all your backup tasks and task history.  If you want to protect this information, then open C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\ in Windows Explorer - this may be hidden on some systems - if so, go to the Folder option in the View pane and enable hidden files & folders).

Save a copy of the Database and Scripts folders to another location to restore back later.

Note 2: In order to restore the above folders & contents, you must stop all Acronis Services & Programs else you will encounter locked files in the Database folder.

Redundant backup scheme

Acronis newbie here:

Trying to schedule redundant backups using True Image 2015 (build 6613).

My Custom backup scheme has been  working fine for several months (weekly; differential; create a full version ever 3 differential versions; store no more than 2 recent version chains (attachment Acronis2)).

Goal is to have backup redundancy with backups stored on 2 diferent external drives.  I've checked "Create a reserve copy of my backup" (attachment Acronis3).

Acronis did create a full backup on the second external drive at the first scheduled backup; however, at the 2nd and 3rd scheduled backups, the differential backups were created only on 1 of the 2 external drives.

How can get the complete backup scheme to write to both drives?

Thanks very much,

Donald

Glenn,

Based on your write up:

" I save it, I press OK, but when I review..."

It appears to me you are referring to the Save As & Save buttons as shown on the picture below:

These only  save the backup scheme.  In order to "save" the backup settings, you have to perform a backup now or backup later.

As a trial, you should set up (or edit) the task (although editing a task is not recommended).  Select Backup Later...exit ATI...run ATI...then check the settings.

Donald,

Welcome to the forums...you should have started a "New Topic" on the ATI 2016 main page.  Threads with multiple topics can get confusing and some problems can get overlooked.

However, "Backup Reserve Copy" does not do what you want it to do...please refer to para 4.3.10 of the user manual.  To do what you want to do, you need to create 2 separate tasks, which is exactly what I do.
