Can't license multiple systems using single key

I recently upgraded from 2014 1 machine to 2016 3 machines. I was able to enter the new key on my first machine (Win 10 that had been running 2014) then when I went to enter the 2014 key on my Mac (new install - #2 of 3), nothing happens. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I got a brain storm wondering if it really worked but didn't tell me. That's what happened! I went in and looked at About and low and behold the 2016 key was there. It would have been nice for the system to say something to the effect that the key had been entered...
