Can't restore any backups... Always missing files. HELP

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I'm running one week cycle scheduled backups.

Frist backup is full, then incremental for 6 days, then full again and so on. I used to do that with previous versions. And delete older backups to save space. I never had any issue to restore files. I was also able to select a backup file even if not listed and restore them. None of my TIB files are sufficient.

Now I can't restore anyone of them. It keeps saying I'm missing files even when I select the day with a full backup.

This 2106 version drives me nuts, compared to 2015 it looks like an unfinished product.

Also, as I don't want to subscribe to that lame cloud service, none of the buttons works it keeps asking me to subscribe.

How can I restore my backups? thanks

How are you attempting to restore?

Please make sure you have the offline bootable media form Acronis 2016 v6569 and are booting with the offline media to perform your full recovery.  Also, make sure that you are booting the media to match how your OS was originally installed (legacy or UEFI - use your onetime boot or boot override menu to make sure you are selecting the correct method to start the media).

If the backups are good - there's no reason that a full cannot recover - ever.  It's only if the backup is missing files (if there were multiple parts) and they are not all in the same location, or if the backup files themselves have been corrupted because the drive they are being written to has been corrupted (bad/dirty sectors) that the backup files could be corruped.

INC can be more finicky as they rely on every version in the chain before it and if any corruption in the chain occured that can cause issues.  I would start with a full and see how that goes after working through the first few suggestions and then try a later incremental if you get the full to restore.

You may also want to try checking your disk where the recovery files live on another PC (if you don't have working Windows at this time).  "chkdsk /f /r" will attempt to scan the disk for bad sectors and mark and/or repair the bad ones.  If you see alot of repairs, it may show that your disk is bad and ulitmately, possibly the backup data on it too (hopefully not  though!)
