Clicking "Backup Now" nothing happens :(

Thread needs solution

Hi

I can't figure out this backup software. :(

I have two external disks. Each friday I do a full back up and saturday-thursday I make incrementel. Next friday I switch disks, format the disk and wait for TI to backup.

I've set up a job:
Backup scheme: Custom
Backup method: Incremental
Create only incremental version after the initial full version

My first backup yesterday went smoothly. Today I switched disks and formatted the new disk. Today at scheduled time, nothing happened. :(When I click "Backup now" nothin happens.

What am I doing wrong? This worked fine in TI2014.

Thanks.

You need two backup tasks, each target disk needs a backup task dedicated to that specific hard drive.
You can use the weekly scheduler and check the day you want the task to run.

In order for the "back up now" to work, the disk for that specific task must be attached.
If the wrong disk is attached, the backup will not run.

I would DISCOURAGE your using the option "create only incrementals"
Much later,, you will be facing a full disk error message because there is no program deletion plans.

I would suggest you start over and choose the automatic cleanup which instructs the program to delete the oldest chain of backups as you acccumulate several backups. The GH12 example is such a scheme for automatic cleanup.

------------------------------------------------

Depending upon the type of backup scheme you wish to create, here is an example of each type. These can be set up for Disk image, or Partiton, or Files-folders backups. These example show how to set up automatic cleanup so the program will do the deletion after it reaches your set goal of how many chains to retain.

Editing an existing task is not recommended. Rarely does an edited task perform to user expectations. It is usually better to start with a new task using a new non-identical task name and point to a new storage sub-folder so each task has it own storage folder/sub-folder. Old task can be stopped or deleted from the task listings.

GH11. Create Custom Full Backup Scheme w/auto cleanup....Store/Keep 4 versions (chains). Use whatever number best fits the individual needs..

GH12. Create Custom Incremental Backup Scheme w/auto cleanup. ...Keep Full plus 6 Inc per chain. Store/Keep 4 chains. Use whatever number best fits your needs.

GH13. Create Custom Differential Backup Scheme w/auto cleanup. ...Keep Full plus 2 Diff per chain. Store/Keep 2 chains. Use whatever number best fits your needs.

same problem

Created new backup, unchecked only when computer idle ... still nothing

Rebooted... still nothing

mclougke,

The storage target must be attached and recognized. What and where is the storage target?

Only one backup will run at one time.

Perhaps, a screen capture of your backup scheme would help.

Is the task which is not working a scheduled or non-scheduled task?

Ultimately, you may have to run the TI cleanup utility (item 4 inside my signature)

and start over with a fresh installation.
