[CRASH] UEFI Bootloader Acronis Startup manager fails

Thread needs solution

This problem is partly solved in b5634.

The critical issue does not occour anymore. Activating Startup Recovery under Linux is not possible for me but under investigation (http://forum.acronis.com/forum/99723)

When I activate Startup Recovery Manager via Windows this will work and not causing a unbootable OS, HOWEVER

I face these problems after pressing F11 (trying to start the recovery manager).

Steps to reproduce:

1. Start Windows 10
2. Start ATIH 2016 b5634
3. Activate Startup Recovery manager via Tools (external tool)
4. Reboot
5. Press F11 when prompted

After installing Acronis, I chose the option to clone a drive. It asked for areboot, which I did from WIndows 10.

Then when DOS came up, there was an error in DOS from Acronis, now all I get is a blinking cursor.

I can't get the error message again, but it won't reboot

Ian, welcome to these user forums.

Unfortunately you have fallen into the trap of attempting to clone a drive from within Windows instead of doing this from the Acronis bootable Rescue media which is the recommended method for cloning.

When you boot from within Windows, Acronis has to modify the Windows bootloader configuration in order to create a temporary Linux based OS boot environment from which to launch the Acronis application which will perform the clone.  When a problem occurs then that Windows bootloader configuration may not be reset back to the values you need to boot correctly into Windows 10.

At this point, you should attempt to access your BIOS / EFI settings for your computer and check what you have got set for the boot device - this should either be pointing at the Windows Boot Manager or your primary disk drive.

If you have got a Windows 10 installation or repair DVD/CD, then you should try booting from that and taking the option to do a Windows Startup Repair.

If you have just purchased / installed ATIH 2016 then open a Support case with Acronis - click on the link for Support at the top of the forum pages, then scroll down and click on Contact Support on the right-side lower down the Support page.  From there, select your support request type - choose Recovery and your ATIH version, then click on the option below to 'Chat now'.   ATIH 2016 users now get free support until at least Sept 2017.
