Differential and Incremental Backup to Cloud

Thread needs solution

1) If these options are available on True Image to a local drive, why on earth aren't they available on the cloud?

2) I was sucked into paying extra for 250 Gb before I know this (since nowhere does it say that the True Image functionality to backup to the cloud is different than local.

I am VERY disappointed!!

Richard, the main reason why you don't get options for Differential / Incremental backups to the Cloud is that these backups employ a delta mechanism to determine what data should be uploaded in order to minimise the volume of data involved.

There would be serious data overheads if you used either Differential or Incremental backups to the Cloud, especially if you were able to choose a backup scheme where you would be creating a new full backup after a small number of diff or incr backups.

Cloud automaticlally does a delta backup after the initial full - it's kind of like nonstop backu for life with a proprietary cloud backup.  The cool thing with teh cloud is during a system resotre, it will only restore the delta as well.  So, instead of formatting the entire drive and restoring everything, it just restores back the blocks of data against what's currently on the disk.
