Error loading driver files to bootable media

Thread needs solution

I am trying to create bootable media to migrate from a Dell G7 to a Dell G15 using Universal Restore.

When I get to the screen to add drivers, I can download .inf driver files but not .sys driver files.

I downloaded the chipset and storage drivers from Dell and unpacked them and the Universal Restore finds all of the .inf files for the new machine, but in the "file type" selection, it will only select .inf files. If I click "next" I get an error message that a specific .sys file is missing - even though I can use File Explorer to find the file.

Do I need the .sys files, and, if so, how do I get the Universal Restore to recognize and select them ?

Thanks for your help

More information is needed before we can assist. My understanding is that the Dell G15 come in two platforms, one Intel the other is AMD. Which is yours? Also, is the Dell G7 an Intel or AMD device.

What version of Windows is being used by the Dell G7? I assume the G15 comes with Windows pre-installed, if so what version and build. To simplify things, you should activate Windows on the new system before doing the cloning.

Please confirm the version of ATI/ACPHO that you are using. If it is ATI 2016 as per this forum, then the recovery media/universal restore may have significant problems with the Dell G15 as it uses technologies that did not exist in 2015 when ATI 2016 ceased development. If your G15 has a 12th or 13th generation Intel CPU, it will use Intel VMD drivers which will complicate the process.
