Exclusions not working in Single Version scheme
The ATI 2016 program back's up and verifies fine, but none of the exclsusions work, therefore the whole disk get's backed up - all 819GB of it. How do I get the exclusions to work?
Windows 10, i7, 16GB RAM

Exclusions not working:
You asked:
Garry, can you show some screenshots of your exclusion settings and the double click on a .tib to open in file explorer, navigate INSIDE the folder where the exclusions should be taking place and take some more screenshots of the non-excluded files in that folder?
I'm afraid I don't understand the second part of this question. I've included the screenshots but what are you talking about when you say "click on a .tib?" Where? I'm excluding whole folders so there are no non-excluded files in the folders.
Are you doing a sector-by-sector backup my chance as well? - no
Also:
The whole of my C: drive is 683GB and the backup ends up around 820GB
Here is my log file, which shows the exclusions:

When I say click on a .tib, I mean, locate where the backup file is created and double click on it - Acronis backups files have a .tib file extension. It should open in Windows File Explorer and allow you to view the contents in the backup file to see what's in it. I'm curious to know if things like teh pagefile.sys (which is in your exclusions) is actually in your backups or not.
You are using an "entire pc" backup so if you have multiple drives attached at teh same time, it may be backing those up too. I don't use "entire pc" for this reason. Instead, I use "disks and paritions" and specifically only select a single disk (or disks if desired) so there are no suprise backups when additional drives are connected.
IF the excuslions are indeed excluded (after double clicking the .tib and checking the contents) and if navigating it also shows that only the main drive was backed up, but it is roughly the entire size of the main drive and not just the used space, I would imagine that it is defaulting to a sector-by-sectory backup because of disk errors. You can run chkdsk /f /r on the primary C: drive, but it will take some time to complete. However, this will not run on hidden partions which may have the corruption and causing sector-by-sector backups.
Can you attach a couple of the most recent log files for futher review?

Hi Bobbo_3C0X1 - you are right - it did back two drives. I will have a close look to see what was actully backed up and get back to you. I've attached a few log files as you requested. Thanks for your help.

Hi Bobbo_3C0X1 - so it looks like the exclusions worked - I was fooled into thinking they had not becasue of the size of the backup, which included two drives. However, something odd has just happened. I am browsing the .tib file with the Windows 10 File Browser and all of a sudden it says that the root folders are empty. However, the .tib file is still there and showing a size of 860GB. Any ideas?
I am going to delete this backup and follow your advice on using the disk and partitions option. I assume that, similar to the other Acronis versions I have used for years, that that I can make a disk image that I can use for a global restore in case of a C: drive crash.
By the way - how do I put a subject line in the post and not have it use the fist few words of the comment box for that?
Thanks,
Garry

Hi again Bobbo_3C0X1
So, it appears that everything is working fine - sorry for the bunny trail. One other question - I really like the way you can open a .tib file with the FIle Explorer and directly copy a file from the tib file if you need to restore one individual file - nice feature. However, if I use the File Explorer to look at a picture file in the .tib file I notice that it will not display the icon as a small version of the picture like it does when viewing hte file directly in the My Pictures directory on the C: drive. Is there any way to accomplish this with the picture files (.jpeg , .tif and .nef) in teh .tib file?
Thanks,
Garry

Hi Garry, I think that will be a problem. It's using a shell extension to tie Acronis navigation to Explorer, so it's not a true explorer feature. Instead of double clicking the .tib, you can also try right clicking and "mount" it as a volume (if it is a partiion or disk backup and not a file/folder backup). Then navigate the mounted drive letter in Explorer and see if that displas them or not.
