fail to open data stream...

Thread needs solution

Hi All

been getting this error on and off for months no:

"The last backup has failed.

Failed to open data stream. Try to remove the backup from the list, add it again by clicking 'browse for backup' amnd recreate the backup settings"

Can anyone tell me why this is happening and how to get round it? I have deleted old back up files cancelled the backup routine and recreated a new one but always with the same result.

Occasionally the BU will perform and then do a few incremental before failing again...

help appreciated

thanks

PCC, welcome to these user forums.

Another user posted a solution to a 'Failed to open data stream' problem in these forums found after working with the Acronis Engineers where the issue was caused by incorrect privileges for the target backup folders.

From my own system, I see as shown in the screen shot attached below:

I've been getting this too. I have traced it down to my External Hard Drive. May I ask if you have a Seagate Backup Plus USB 3.0? I've got 4TB. It appears to be a disk drive problem.

Might want to look at my Thread ==> https://forum.acronis.com/forum/127327

Also check your Event Viewer for DISK errors, I found 2, 11 and 154, a controller error and a fatal disk error.

The Seagate could be good and you think it is working but the error tell me it isn't. I've also seen reports that Paragon programs do interfere with the Seagate drives, but I can't confirm this. If you have a Mac it seems this is the case and uninstalling and reinstalling those programs fixes it.

If you don't have a Seagate then this might not apply but check the Event Viewer anyway.

I'd be interested in your findings. I don't think it is a True Image problem but if you have a different drive it could be?
