Getting a new computer, are my bases covered?
Currently, I am using a laptop running ATIH 2011 and Windows Vista. The cooling fan just gave out. I'm going to attempt to replace it, but it's a long involved process and there's a good chance I just get a new laptop with Windows 10 installed.
I just did a full disk backup with my ATIH 2011. When I buy the new computer, I'm guessing I will just buy a new ATIH 2016. There are only a few programs that I absolutely need(Quickbooks mostly). I will be buying a new copy of those. I just want to make sure that I have my bases covered.
After installing ATIH 2016, I can use it to restore, or mount the image, of my recent disk backup to my NAS? I'd just use that to get back any data files I have.
If I'm missing anything big, or you have any things that would make the process much easier, please let me know.
I'm so anxious about screwing something up while attempting to change fan and not having access to my files, should I need to buy a new laptop.
Thanks!
