Imaged file bigger than the original?

Thread needs solution

This is stranger than fiction.

ATI 2581 build image of some windows created stuff makes no sense to me. Normally imaged files are much smaller than the original and reflect the file type correctly (at least in the last good ATIv11).

But as you can see in this validated image, they are enormous. And file types seem wrong and .cab files got named to .log. Every single one. I marked just one file so whoever reads it might see it quicker. What's going on? What am I not understanding?

I'm not sure what version 2581 references?  2016 last version is 6581 and 2017 is at 5554.

Regardless, it looks like you're comparing 2 differnet items.  Your first screenshot is a .cab file.  Your 2nd screenshot is a .log file.  Log files are generally running information of changes made and can grow and grown unless there is some set limit that resets the log or removes the oldest poritions to keep it a maximum size.  Your second screenshot shows .log and .cab files - perhaps you just referenced the .log file on accident since it has the same name.  Most likely there is a log and a .cab file with the same name.

I mistyped build number. It's 2016 build 6581 not 2581.

Regarding wrong size, extension, and type - I did nothing other than open the image in win explorer. Explorer is set to show details.
Note the path in both is ...\CBS.

I just looked at an image done under 6571 - it looks fine, nothing goofy.
