Installation fails: Could not write value AcronisTibMounterMonitor to key \Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run.

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I tried in multiple ways, also running as an admin. No way, Build 6571 (newest?) cannot be installed. What can I do?

Kind regards,
Bert

BTW: It's Windows 10 Prof, latest build.

Just by chance I found that Acronis 2016 was indeed installed! I could also do a backup. However, I don't know if the error has other consequences e.g. not being able to restore a single file from a backup.

I'd recommend a repair install.  Download the full v6571 installer from your online account.  Reboot first (for good measure to make sure things like pending patches from Microsoft aren't interfering.

Temporarily disable AV for the install (you can enable it as soon as it's done)

Right click on the installer and "run as administrator" even if already logged in with and admin accout - this elevates credentials to the fullest.

If prompted to repair, do it.  If given the ability to install then do that instead.

Hopefully you're in good shape after that.

If not, do a clean uninstall and reinstall first (perhaps a bad upgrade in Acronis or the OS if you upgraded Windows with Acronis installed previously).  Use the clean tool in the link at the bottom of this post and run it with "run as admin" to clean things up first, reboot and then repeat the install as recommended using the full installer, with AV disabled and "run as administrator".
