Installation fails by: This serial number is valid. You cannot downgrade ATI
I had ATI Home 2011 installed at my Win 7 pro PC.
During the check for Win 10 I had to uninstall this software as it would not run under Win 10.
Now in Win 10 pro I installed the upgrade of STI 2016. The check for the serial number failed with following note:
"The serial number is valid, but cannot be applied. You cannot downgrade Acronis True Image."
What does it mean? I do not downgrad but upgrade.
How to perform now? Please help.

Hi Anna
Problem seems to be solved.
Don't know whether you managed it. However, after cleaning with the Revo Uninstaller (just removing the old ATI programme data, none of the details) and a restart at the next day I tried to install ATI 2016 again. And - oh wonder - the setup programme asked whether to repair ATI.
After that the programme works.
Thank you.

Hi Anna
I have excactly the same problem.
I want to upgrade from ATI 12 to ATI 2016 under WIN10. When entering the serial number it says "This serial number is valid ... you cannot downgrade".
I appreciate your valuable support.

Hi Ralph,
which product version do you use as a base license?

Hi Anna
Thanks for your reply. I just contacted support and a ticket was opened.
It was said that this behaviour was already known and that the problem would be solved with the next program update next week.
So I'm waiting ...

Hi Ralph,
in the meanwhile the new build has been already released.
Please download it, check if it helps and report the results in the support case.
Thank you,

Hi Anna,
Thanks for your input.
With the new release I could successfully activate the program.

I had the same problem when I tried installing TI 2016. I had to contact Acronis support, they gave me a fresh serial number but, without even entering a new serial number, the problem seemed to correct itself. I think they made some changes on my account info at their end and it solved the problem I was facing. I was upgrading from TI 2011 to TI 2016, FYI.
