Log file points to errors but end of log says successful

Thread needs solution

I set up backups for users I support and receive email confirmation of the success or otherwise of the backup. When a log file shows errors but bottom line says successful is it to be taken that the backup succeeded ... or not? Thanks for any experienced input! :-)

eg:

Hello Richard,

According to the logfile the backup itself was created successfully, but the VSS services failed to create a VSS-snapshot of the data. VSS services is used for the consistent backup of running databases like SQL or Exchange. If you don't have any, you can safely deactivate this service.

Thank you,
