Login credentials
In older versions of Acronis there was an option where you could add login credentials for networks. I can't find them in the 2016 version. Is that option still avaiable?

That is precisely the feature I am referring to. That feature is critical. I am using 2016 and set up a backup scheme which somehow worked until my comapny required us to chnage our password. Now I can't backup that directory anymore.

TI 2016 uses Windows Credential Manager for this purpose. Do a search in Windows for Credentials Manager, then choose Add Credential.

I thought that may be the case but apprently I don't know what all it needs since I haven't been able to make it work.

The ATI2016 user manual covers Authentication Settings in Para 3.5.3, on page 32.
I could not find "Windows Credential Manager" anywhere in the user manual.
Ralph...please let us know when and how you get this resolved.

In Windows Search box type: Credentials Manager, you should get a list from which you can open the credential manager. Click on Add New Credential to add your new information.

Thanks I tried that but apparently I don't know what infomation to add since it doesn't allow the backup to work.

You would add either sharename location (example - \\mynas\maybackup\) and the password needed for access to that share.
Please provide more details, what are you backing up to, network attached drive, mapped drive, server, etc.? Are you using Samba shares or FTP? I presume you are connected with wired ethernet? Can you browse to the network location you wish to use in the destination screen of the GUI? If you can what happens when you try to select that location as destination?

I am connected to a wired corporate network. The desired backup souce location is a directory on that network to which I've mapped a drive letter. The backup destination is a USB hard disk. The backup worked until my IT department required us all to change our Windows passwords. I've tried entering the data every which way I can think of in the credential manager. In every case the Acronis app tells me it can not locate the source files or directory when I try to start the backup. I never had any problem with Acronis versions before 2016. I simply entered my new Windows login info into the "Run Backup as Different Windows User" parameters.

From your description I think that TI cannot access your source directory on your corporate network. If you create a new backup task and choose the source location can you see that network directory location in the TI application GUI screen? I suspect not. Can you see this location from Windows File Explorer? If so what happens when you attempt to explore that location, do you get a pop up credentials box? If you can see that location and you do get a pop up credentials box your corporate logon would be required to gain access. If you can gain access that way then adding that logon info in Credentials Manager should allow you run a backup. Having said that it might be necessary that you recreate the backup task if such task is scheduled.
I do not believe the feature of "Run Backup as Different Windows User" is available in the 2016 application although I could be mistaken and just do not know how to trigger the option. The only way I can think to do that is by creating a new backup task so that you can select the source.

Thank you. I have no problem seeing the network directory in explorer or the TI application GUI screen. It is only when the backup is started that there is an issue. My only explaination is that somehow the backup runs in a way that it does not have the same system rights as me unless it logs in as me.

Ralph,
Are you logged into the different Windows Account when attempting to backup the network drive?
Have you looked at the ATI 2016 Properties - Security Tab. and checked the permissions for that user? Does that user have Full control?
