Not working
I had an issue where items were not backed up on differential backups for some reason. Yesterday during a LONG chat, the tech set up a NEW scheme with a full backup of selected files to be followed by daily differential backups. The full backup yesterday worked perfectly. HOWEVER, some two hours after the scheduled daily backup, it still says that it is calculating remaining time and the backup file contains ZERO bytes. I am pretty much frustrated by the whole thing. Just purchased and installed last month and the one time I needed it, it wasn't there properly, and now it isn't working automatically at all. Other than trashing the whole program and looking for something that actually works, any suggestions?

Thanks for the suggestion. That is exactly what we did yesterday, and the full backup worked fine, but the one today (first differential backup) never got past checking for time remaining. I may try it from scratch again, but don't klnow if that will work. I am pretty certain that it was set up properly since the tech from Acronis did it.

set it up to do full backups instead of diffs and see if it makes them in schedule. If not then the prob is likely a disk access or diskspace error. If so, then the prob is likely a bug in ATI. In which case I'd then try running an inc oinstead of diff.
Also, after making a full backup, go back and do a validatio to see if ATI can read the file it made.

Larry, if you are seeing 'calculating time remaining...' for an extended period then it is possible that you have a Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) issue as this is the first part of the backup process where it uses VSS to create a snapshot of the source files to be included in the backup image.
See post: https://forum.acronis.com/forum/45832#comment-346558 where Acronis Expert Support Professional, Slava offered the following tip:
It is also possible to disable VSS usage for a particular backup task without touching Windows VSS service itself:
1) open the folder where your backups settings are saved: C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts
2) each file there stores settings for particular backup job. Open files one-by-one in Notepad, or open latest modified file (if you have just modified your task), until you find the one that has backup name on 5th line, e.g. MyBackups
3) click Edit - Replace and replace use_vss="true" with use_vss="false"
4) save changes and close the file
Thanks, Slava
