Notification Area Icons - Windows 7

Thread needs solution

Once ATI 2016 runs a backup, an ATI icon appears in the Windows 7 notification area. I can't get rid of it and it doesn't do anything if I click it, double click it or right click it. It also doesn't disappear of I set the notification settings to hide notifications and the icon.

The only way to get rid of it is to restart the computer.

Any ideas?

Acronis is notorious for these notification icons that you can't get rid of. I currently have three icons in my tray and no way to get rid of them. Haven't rebooted yet hoping that will get rid of them.  Poorly thought out. I guess you either deal with the annoyance or uninstall the Acronis software.

Dean, welcome to these User Forums.

This subject seems to be one that divides users, some want the tray icons and don't always see them, and others don't want the icons but have them!

If you are running ATIH 2016 then there will be no further updates as the product is beyond its end of support date and Acronis have released the 2017 and 2018 versions since.

If you think this is a big issue then I can only suggest submitting Feedback via the tool provided in the GUI.  If you have ATIH 2017 or 2018, then you could open a Support Case about this if you feel strong enough about it.
