Please Help - UEFI M2 to usb attached SSD then back again not working with Dell XPS 15 skylake.

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I just got a new XPS laptop that has Win 10 x64 and the M2 drive is GPT.   I'd like to restore this image to another PC that also supports UEFI.   I may also be upgrading the 256 M2 on my XPS to a 512GB HD.   I want to be sure I can image it.

I do have an externally attached via USB standard SSD sata drive that it recognizes in Windows 10.

I think WIndows 10 requires the intel rapid storage tech driver to find the M2

Is there anything special I should know?

I'm trying it now and it has been stuck on the reboot in acronis - preparing - one or more of your removable disks may not have started at the moment.   Click yes and it keeps coming back to the message.  Click no and nothing happens.

I'm wondering if I need to add m.2 or intel rapid storage drivers to the acronis process as it doesn't recognize either my USB or my m.2 drive on acronis boot - not sure which.

I am running TI 2016 on my new XPS 9550 w 500gb SSD and non-touch screen. I can tell you for certain that using TI to build recovery media on a usb drive, when you boot from the usb drive it does not see the SSD. I am guessing that you need to use WINPE to build the recovery media to get it to wok but I haven't tried it yet.

Thanks.  I did get it working with winpe.   Then I tried Samsung migration wizard and it was even easier!
