Purchased ATI 2016 as a gift, but my purchase was automatically registered under my account

Thread needs solution

I recently purchased ATI 2016 as a gift, but my purchase was automatically registered under my account. How do I go about unregistering the purchase from my account so that the person to whom I am giving the gift can create their own account and register it there?

I would contact Acronis support and have them transfer it after you've notified them of the gift availability.  If you create it under their email account now, they may get an email notification before you plan to tell them of the gift.   Please keep in mind that once the purchase is made, 30 day support kicks in already too since it's been registered to your account.  You may want to bring this up with technical support as well.

Thank you for your advice and Acronis customer service information. I will contact them

If gift purchases of ATI occur often enough, it might make sense for Acronis to institute a mechanism on their website to specifically flag purchases as gifts. The purchases could then hopefuly be handled appropriately to allow recipients to register the products. I will have to suggest this to Acronis customer service.

I hear you.  Let us know what Acronis says when you contact them.  Unfortunately, this is a user forum so although I appreciate the feedback too, I have no buy in for these types of changes.  if you also have the product at home, I would submit feedback through the applicaiton and/or after logging into your account online.  Alternatively, you can purchase a "boxed" license from 3rd party resellers like Amazon or Newegg in the future and then they can use that and register the license on their own when gifted.
