Recover Asking For Permissions UNC Permissions

Thread needs solution

Hi all,

I have a full backup that I made on Thursday last week. I am trying to recover it today on the same PC to a different SSD. The recover process is asking for authentication for a NAS network share (UNC Path) that does not exist. It wasn't part of the original backup and is not involved in the recover. So why is it asking and how do I get around this?

This was a 1-time backup with custom settings. It was backed up to D:\My Backups\. It was not scheduled. 

I did the backup with True Image 2014. I just updated this PC to 2016 and it is doing the same thing.

From my experience, Acornis only asks for network authentication if you are attempting to recover from a share that requires it.  If you are doing any type of network backup or recovery, even to an external drive that is attached to another Windows computer (anything not locally attached to the physical system you are going to backup or recovery) you will need to provide credentials to authenticate to that system or device as Acronis is an unknown/foregin account when yo u boot from the offline bootable recovery media.

If your backup is attached to the local system and Acronis is not able to connect to it, it may be a permission issue and you can try providing local account credentials that you would normally use to log into the system that the backup was originally created from/with.

Otherwise, are you sure you didn't set a backup encryption password when the backup was created?  If so, it may be asking you to decrypt the backup with that password and not be related to.

My only other thought is that Acronis is detecting the NAS share by default in it's file explorer and is trying to get access to the share for some reason.  If the backup doesnt' exist there though, you should be able to ignore it, (or don't navigate there in the first place) and try navigating on the local machine to the backup location.
