Recovery Hangs With Deeply Nested Folders

Thread needs solution

My recovery attempts are consistently hanging when I try to recover a file, or set of files, from within a series of nested folders. If I select an individual file, or files, from within the directory hierarchy 7 layers deep the ATI GUI hangs and is unable to restore.

While selecting the file to restore, if you are less than 7 layers deep then you'll see it calculate the size of the file(s) to be restored. At 7 or greater layers, it endlessly just says 'calculating...' and never provides an estimate. You can go to the next screen but if you click to 'browse' to choose a new recovery destination or click to recover to the original destination then the GUI becomes unresponsive and you have to kill it. I've let it wait for hours; it never comes back.

I've experienced this with both a backup with a series of incrementals as well as backups with just a single full backup (no incrementals). All backups were 100% validated by Acronis.

Note: If I boot with Acronis recovery media then the restores seem to work fine. So I think it's just an issue with the ATI 2016 Windows GUI. Good that I can recover my data; bad that the GUI is buggy on a critical step.

Hello, Rob

How many files in that deeply nested folder? And where the backup is located (NAS, network share, internal/external HDD)? This issue is very similar to a known one (ticket TI-49709). Our development team is working on it.

Best regards.
