Subscriptions and Serials for 2015 and 2016

Thread needs solution

To the point, if I install "True Image 2016 - Universal Restore", will I still be able to access my cloud backups and use my "True Image Unlimited" subscription?

I doubt that the user forum is the place for this, but I am hesitant to contact support before getting more information. I had no luck finding this detail searching the forum or browsing the website.

Here's what I have list in my Account:
Acronis True Image Cloud - 3 computers
Acronis True Image 2016 - Universal Restore
Acronis True Image Unlimited for PC and Mac (3 computers)
Acronis True Image 2015 - Universal Restore
Acronis True Image 2015 for PC and Mac Upgrade (3 computers)

It looks messy, but besides the versions I had purchased in the past, I also got a free version that came with a hard drive. At some point I upgraded to "3 computers", then later again to "Unlimited" subscription. But even though it lists TI 2016, when I download all my serials there is no serial explicitly for 2016.

Even though each time I thought I was "upgrading", apparently it just keeps stacking up the versions and creates a complicated list of inter-related serials. From my list of products, I feel like I'm entitled to use the new 2016 version on 3 computers all using my unlimited cloud subscription. BUT, it is not clear from the serials if I install the new version if it will work correctly on all 3 computers. I don't want to screw everything up... let me re-word that... I don't want the Acronis software to screw things up if I try updating only to find out that it will not work on any / all of my installations.

By the way, when I click "Upgrade" with the software, it only lists option that cost money. No help and rather stupid update/licensing software. There are plenty of other software and companies that have simple, effective and understandable license systems. Acronis is very confusing.

Any advice or knowledge on licensing issues?

At the moment I have licenseing issues out of nowhere and already contacted a staff member.

True image Cloud / Unlimited is a complete seperate product line
Universal Restore is part of the base license since ATIH 2015 so also for ATIH 2016. Previous to ATIH 2015 you had to buy and register UR seperately.

Basically it seems that something went wrong with your license dashboard normally you should only see these entries

ATIH Image 2016 Cloud if seperately bought
ATIH Image Unlimited
ATIH 2016 / UR as one entry when upgraded from 2015
ATIH 2015 / UR Upgrade as one entry when upgraded from a version previous to 2015

your legitimate product is missing you bought the ATIH 2015 upgrade on.

Unlimited license represents the right to use the latest product available, as long your subscription is valid.

If you dont mind please post a screenshot without the license numbers for your account.

I agree that the upgrade button is a bit confusing and needs better explaination of the possible upgrade paths.

p.s. as an example refer to the attached screenshots, which show my license status.

Attached is the screen shot of the products page.  It looks different than the example German version.

Thanks Karl.  From what you said:

"True image Cloud / Unlimited is a complete seperate product line"
    ...

"Unlimited license represents the right to use the latest product available, as long your subscription is valid."

I interpret that to mean if I install TI 2016, it will work with the Cloud/Unlimited backups.

But it is still interesting that you call Cloud/Unlimited a "complete separate product line".  That makes it sounds like the software is completely separate also, but then your other statement implies that the new 2016 will work with the Cloud and Unlimited subscriptions.  Although Unlimited is a license to store data on the cloud servers, for any user who purchases that license they also get the license to use the software.  It is stupid that I essentially paid twice (or more) for the rights to use the same software just because I decided later on to "upgrade" to the Unlimited subscription.  At the time, I thought by clicking "upgrade" that I was getting a good deal, but now I realize it was a ripoff.  I would have paid the same price if I had just purchased it directly, without the "upgrade".  They really need to streamline their license management system to be smarter and not so confusing.

Under Acronis standard terms of business, you can ask for a refund with 31 days (or thereabout), so you can reverse the unwanted/unnecessary upgrade.

If you had an ATI 2015 Unlimited, then an ATI 2016 Cloud licence number would have been added to your account automatically; you then do the upgrade and use that 'new' licence number.

One thing I do not understand why there is an 'uprade now' icon when I am already running the latest version. Really confusing.

Hello Perkins, well I try to explain your license path from your given screenshot. Thanks for posting.

License Tree 1:
ATIH 2013 Standard - no UR (licenses: 3 computers)
ATIH 2014 Family Pack Upgrade - no UR (afaik) (licenses: 3 computers)
ATIH 2015 PC / Mac (licenses: 3 computers) > ATIH 2015 UR is part of your ATIH 2015 license but is seperately shown as it needed a seperate download and activation

License Tree 2:
ATIH 2014 OEM (licenses 1 computers) but mostly only used with that bundled hardware (OEM / e.g. WD Edition) will only work to backup onto any WD drive for example

License Tree 3:
ATIH Unlimited (licenses: 3 computers for the time the subscription is valid to use the latest version of ATIH - currently 2016 -, + UR + Cloud with unlimited* space) *space is not really unlimited, read fineprint. Based on german laws this is very much at the edge of what we call "misleading
advertisement".

License Tree 4:
Acronis Image Cloud (licenses: 3 computers) + 1 year cloud subscription
UR is part of the base licenses, same to ATIH 2015

Your current licenses, at least from my understanding, entitles you to use the products as follows:

ATIH 2013-2015 on up to 3 computers including UR for ATIH 2015

in addition
ATIH 2016 on up to 3 computers including + UR (both lifetime) + Cloud for 365 days after registration

in addition
ATIH 2016 on up to 3 computers including + UR + Cloud for the time of the subscription is valid or future versions as soon they become available while your subscription is still valid.
When your subscription ends you are still entitled to use the base license and current version of ATIH that was released during that active subscription.

in addition
ATIH 2014 on up to 1 computer with a bundled hardware (refer details above)

you should really use the new Acronis website that makes it a bit more clear:
https://account.acronis.com/login

At the moment you can install and correctly license up to 10 computers respective the valid version.

Basically you could even use ATIH 2013 for 3 computers as the 2014 upgrade license is tied to the 2015 license, but afaik upgrade licenses do not span across all releases but only the previous version. So taken with a grain of salt you have 13 activateable licenses.

some corrections, spellings and additions. Should be fine now.
