True Image interfering with Graphic software I am using

Thread needs solution

I run a programme which converts an image into a chart for crosstitching but am having problems with the programme running very slowly after much investigation it would appear that it is True Image that is causing this. I only use True Image to back up files to an external hard drive and do not subscribe to Cloud and yet it seems to be running in the background constanlIs there anyway I can stop these tasks running please

Margaret, how are you coming to the conclusion that ATIH is causing your graphics software to run very slowly?

There are various Acronis Services and Processes which run in the background which are described in the following KB document: 56697: Acronis True Image 2016: Services and Processes but I am not aware of any issues where they cause an impact to other applications unless an Acronis backup task is active and performing a backup, and depending on where the backup is being written to.

Thanks Steve,  The Software Designer has been working with me to try and solve this issue and believe me every possible avenue has een explored, Graphics Card, speed tests you name it and we have done it. The Designer runs the programme on Win 10 with no problem and downloaded a trial of ATI 2016 and he experienced exactly the same problem as me with the programme being extremely slow to load and refresh any graphics.

My backups take place in the evening when I am not working on the computer to an external HD.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I really dont want to have to ininstall ATI.

Margaret, all I can suggest at this point would be to try stopping individual Acronis Services or Processes one at a time to test which one may be contributing to the issue with the Graphics software.

Margaret,

I'd also be lookigng at taskmanager to watch utilization of resources - particularly memory and CPU when the slowdown occurs.  If the system is maxing out memory or CPU this could certainly be an issue, but may not be related to Acronis.  I would be surprised if it was Acronis causing a graphics issues, unless it was somehow related to Acronsi using up resources that the application might be needing.

1) What's the application that is having the issue - is it possible to get a test version of it?

2) How much physical memory does your system have?

3) What is the make/model of your PC?

4) What is your CPU make/model?

5) What type of graphics card do you have (make/model and manufacturer please)?

6) What type of backup do you have scheduled (incrementals, differentials, nonstop backup)?

Starting with Steve's recommendation for checkign the services, if you aren't using nonstop backup or cloud backps, you can permanently disable the nonstop backup service and the managed machine mini service of Acronis to free up other sytsem resources.

Thank you for your comments, I'll try to answer your questions. I think that the thinking behind Acronis causing the issues is because we have been down just about every avenue testing just about everything on the computer and when the Software designer  (who has been most helpful) downloaded a trial version of ATI onto his windows 10 comp he had exactly the same problem as me with the graphics on the programme being very very slow whereas without Acronis is was fine.

The software is Cross Stitch proffesional Platinum Plus (a trial version is available at www.cross-stitch-software.co.uk)

I have attached info on my computer which I hope will give you some answers to your questions

My Graphics Card is a Nvidia GeForce GT530 with the latest Driver v: 10.18.13.6822

I Use an Differential Backup to an external HD scheduled for Files and Folders daily (when I am not working on Computer) and a Full differentiall back up once a week. I do not use Nonstop backup or Cloud.

I would love to permanently disable some of the Acronis background services but whilst I can temporarily stop them in Task manager this is not permanent, if you could explain in laymans terms  how I can achieve this I would be very grateful as my computer seems to be forever running them in the background

If I run the Cross Stitch Programme in 'Safe Mode' I have no problems at all.

Thank you

Margaret,

You can right click on the service to stop (disable).

Then select properties...picture 1 below.

Then go to "Startup Type" and select disable...picture 2 below.

To bring up the services window, type services in the search web and windows box (lower left screen).

If you disable one service at a time and then test if that fixes the porblem you might be able to isolate the cause.  May help in a resolution.

Thank you, your comprehensive help is much appreciated, I have followed your instructions and it does appear to help I will keep my fingers crossed
