Using tib image on second laptop, same exact model, Will I have problems with Win Activation?

Thread needs solution

I have 3 of the exact same laptops; make and model. They shipped with W10 Home.64

I plan to do all the updates, installs and setup on 1, image it using Acronis TI 2016 Boot Disk. and then use same image on the other 2.

With Windows 7 I would simply use the "Change Product Key" link in the Control Panel and enter the COA key from the sticker on the PC/LT. Win10 does not ship with a COA and somehow uses info in the BIOS? to make each install unique. Will I have problems with Windows being "Genuine"  on these other 2 laptops?

THANKS!!!

I think you should be fine here.  Win 10 licensing is quite a bit different than previous versions.  You are right that Product keys are now stored in the BIOS.  That makes installs machine specific in the sense that it is your machine which is registered as having a licensed copy of Windows 10.

I recently aquired a laptop on which Windows 10 had been upgraded from an original Win 8 install.  The upgrade of Windows 10 on the machine was only progressed to the point of entering User name and password when I got it.  So I filled in the blanks to complete the install and the result was an activated Windows 10 install.  Now the problem was that this laptop was full of 64 bit capable hardware but the Windows 10 upgrade that was applied was a 32 bit version.  Now it makes no sense to have a 64 bit capable machine running a 32 bit OS obviously.  To remedy this I simply downloaded a fresh copy of Windows 10 X64 from Microsoft Media Creation Tool site and did a clean install on the device.  Now the installer would not run on the disk as fromated so I had to erase the drive leaving only unallocated space to run the install which went smoothly.  At the end with the fresh installation complete and machine hooked up to the internet Windows 10 activation was complete almost instantly.

Thanks Enchantech, I will follwo up once I try this. I am going to use a 3rd party software to "see" and the Win10 key and watch how/when it changes. From the key from the source laptop as I migrate that image to the other 2 laptops.
