WD My Book 6TB Acronis feature

Thread needs solution

I am concidering acquiring a WD My Book 6T device.  What advantage are there to using this device for backups with my Acronis True Image 2016  software over using another device for backup?

Mark, if this is a network attached device like my own WD My Book 2TB device then the main advantage is in being able to backup multiple systems across my local network to it.  I tend to opt to use ethernet cable connections for the backups where possible as this gives higher transfer speeds than using wireless via powerline adapters.

If you do a search on My Book, you will see some threads where ATI did not find the My Book hard disk.  You can also find some threads where ATI has issues with hard disks larger than 2TB.  Most of the issues occurred when booting from rescue media.

I am not trying to discourage you from buying the My Book...they have an excellent reputation.  There could be issues when you try to do a backup.  But more importantly, you could have issues when you try to do a restore.

The above link, which was started quite a while ago, discusses USB3 hard disk problems...it is 8 pages long.  On the last page, the OP finally resolved the problem by buying a 3TB My Book.
