Backing up multiple instances of Windows 10 on the same computer

I have a single computer with 2 primary partitions with a completely separate copy of Windows 10 on each. I use Windows boot manager to select the operating system that I want to use. When I'm logged into System A, I see System B's partition as Drive D, and visa versa.

If I install True Image Home 2017 on System A and backup everything including its Drive D (which is System B) will the backup of Drive D include all of the boot information for System B? Or, do I need to install a separate copy of Acronis on each partition and let each just backup its own Drive C and exclude Drive D?

Steve, welcome to these user forums.

My recommendation would be to install ATIH 2017 on the instance of Windows 10 that was installed first on your computer, as this will host the shared Boot Configuration Data files that are used for both instances of Windows 10.

You can make an entire disk & partitions backup of the drive and will have a full backup of both copies of Windows 10.

Once you have a backup, then you could restore the two partitions separately if needed.

I have a laptop that was originally installed with Vista (32-bit) which I partitioned and installed Windows 10 (64-bit on) where the actual boot configuration data is stored on the Vista partition.  I make all my backups from Windows 10 simply because that is the OS I am using daily but I have to include the Vista partition in case of needing to do a full recovery, though I have restored the Windows 10 partition to recover from some problems at least once or twice over the last couple of years.

Your ATIH 2017 is licensed according to the hardware signature where it is installed, so you could install it in each instance of Windows 10 if needed and still use the same single license.

Thank you VERY much. Logically that's what I figured it would do but I wasn't sure, and I didn't know that ATIH was licensed to the hardware signature either, although that makes perfectly good sense.
