Backup of bitlocker encrypted memory stick fails

Thread needs solution

Hello,

the backup of a bitlocker encrypted memory stick fails. The backup has been working before a lot of times without any problems.

Now with Version 2017 build 8058 True Image dose not recognize that the memory stick is unencrypted in Windows 10 Pro (Version 1709, Build 16299.19).

Thank for your advice.

Holger

Holger, welcome to these User Forums.

When you say that this backup (of your unlocked BitLocker encrypted memory stick) has been working before a lot of times without any problems, which build version of ATI were you using when this was successful?

Is it only this one encrypted memory stick that gives this problem, or does this happen for any BitLocker encrypted drive on your system, assuming that you are unlocking these before trying to run ATI 2017?

If you are confident that this is a problem introduced with ATI 2017 build 8058, then I can only recommend opening a Support Case directly with Acronis Support to allow them to investigate this matter further with you.

Sorry that I cannot try to recreate this as am running Windows 10 Home without BitLocker support.

Holger...welcome to these user forums.

Did the problem occur after a Windows update?  Or after an ATI 2017 update?  With the bitlocker encrypted memory stick installed, can you use Windows explorer to navigate to a file on the memory stick and open the file?

Have you tried creating a new backup task to see if ATI 2017 would succeed with a new back up task?  Typically, any time I have problems with an existing backup, one of the first things I do is create a new task and see if the new task succeeds.  Even if the new task succeeds, you should provide feedback to Acronis directly as well as sharing with other users on this blog.

Hello,

thanks for your answers. As I´m doing the backup not regaulary (maybe every 2 month) I cannot say if is the version of ATI 2010 or the Windows version.

The facts are:

1. recent update of Windows to the creators falls version

2. ATI 2017 reconizes the memory stick with 0 GB although the stick is automatically uncrypretd by Windows. I can see this with the Windows explorer.

I think I will open a Support Case with Acronis Support.

Holger, please let us know how you get on with the Support Case.
