Cannot not mount in Write Mode

Thread needs solution

Will only mount last backup of chain in read mode .. Makes it unable to change permissions on user folder to recover files ..  The computer that made backups  is dead  .. Same result in original 2017 install and current version ..  Dead PC  is Windows 10 Pro ..  Destination Windows 10 Pro laptop .. Data on Network Share SMB2  .. All units are in a Workgroup environment ..

I am dead in the water here !!!  really need  writable mount !!

David, welcome to these public User Forums.

Acronis have not provided any means of mounting any backup image in Read/Write mode for almost 10 years or more, and even when it was provided, it didn't actually change any data in the original backup image but recorded changes in a supplement to that file!

The way around this issue with permissions is in the Recovery Options available, and in particular the option shown below (from the ATI 2017 User guide).

File recovery options

Location: Recovery options > Advanced > File recovery options

You can select the following file recovery options:

  • Recover files with their original security settings - if the file security settings were preserved during backup (see File-level security settings for backup), you can choose whether to recover them or let the files inherit the security settings of the folder where they will be recovered to. This option is effective only when recovering files from file/folder backups.
  • Set current date and time for recovered files - you can choose whether to recover the file date and time from the backup or assign the files the current date and time. By default the file date and time from the backup will be assigned.
