clone hangs at 14 seconds

Thread needs solution

I am using Windows 7 pro with a 3T dirve and trying to back up to a seagate 5T drive. The trial version of acronis seemed to work fine, but i switched to the paid verison and tried to create a clone on the xhd, it hung at 14 seconds to finish. then the xhd would not appear in explorer, but was visitble in device manager. i quick reformatted the xhd and tried again. it hung again at 14 seconds to go and again rendered my xhd invisible.

wassup?

Terry,

Welcome to the Forum,  Not sure here but sounds like you are attempting to use the Clone tool run from the Windows installed True Image app to complete your task.

This can be done but is not advised if the disk being cloned is an OS (Windows) system disk.  If your disk is in fact a Windows OS disk than you should create Rescue Media which you can do using the Media Builder found in the Tools section of the app to perform the clone task.

I'd also check for bad/dirty sectors on the orignal OS drive.  Bad sectors are a surefire way to end up with a failed clone.

I agree with Enchantech as well.  Here are the full procedures for a clone from my perspective as a user... https://forum.acronis.com/forum/125166#comment-387534
