Cloning query: wired ethernet lan with 20 windows 10 Pro PCs.

Thread needs solution

Hi,

My apologies in advance if a similar question has already been answered on this forum.  I hope someone can help, or point me in the right direction.

I will have 20 desktop PCs connected in a wired lan.  Each machine will have Windows 10 Pro (OEM version) and will contain the same hardware.

The machines are to be used in a franchised private education centre, with each user only requiring access to two web-based apps, via Firefox and Chrome.

Each machine will connect to a gigabit switch, using CAT6 cabling.  The machines will not need to connect via wireless.

Each machine will be locked-down, almost like a 'kiosk' setup, and will not need a complicated setup.  They will not need any file or print sharing.

I'm in the process of setting-up a test PC and believe that this machine could act as the reference machine for creating a base image to be used on the remaining twenty. Would Acronis cloning software be the right tool for the job?  I know it's only twenty PCs and relatively simple setup but I don't really want to spend an hour or so per machine, if I can create some kind of image and make the task less onerous in some way.

Kind regards.

Tim.

I would recommend Acronis Snap Deploy for your needs.

Enchantech, thank you for your advice and quick reply.

Snap Deploy seems to be what I'm looking for.  Could I use this to push the image over a simple P2P network, without adding the complication of a client/server setup?  I've found the cost of licensing from the link which you (Enchantech) provided me with.

Thanks in advance.

Tim.

Tim,

Not having used Snap Deploy to do this I cannot say but I would bet it would work just fine.  You can check the documentation and see what you can find there.

There is a link to the user guide for the product at the bottom of the page of the link I provided above.

See page 9 Section 1.5.2 for simple deployment instuctions using MAC addresses.  It should work for you!
