connecting to cloud to restore system.

Thread needs solution

Got all my sysstems backed up to various hard drives although haven't cracked the NAS authentication failure thing yet. So i thought I'd better test the restore from the cloud. Booted from Usb recovery into ATI 2017 no problem. Clicked browse and selected cloud form the options. Window opens for username and password which then tells me there is an internet connection problem (I'm using wireless). I'm not suprised as I didnt think the laptop would have a connection at that stage but presumed that ATI took care of that. I did copy the error log which I can't seem to pasre so I'll have to do it again.

Am I missing something obvious? Any pointers appreciated.

system is Win 10 x64 with an Asus RT-AC68U router

Mike, welcome to these user forums.

I would recommend that if you are going to test a restore from the cloud that you should use a wired network connection rather than doing this using wireless.

Wireless support in the Acronis Rescue media is not the most comprehensive whereas wired network support is more common and should offer a higher transfer speed for the volume of data that may be needed to download for a recovery.

Thanks Steve, I'll try that later tonight. we have a good fibre connection but I agree it's a lot of data.

Even made some progress with the network USB drive????

Agree with Steve's suggestion.  Also, for the purpose of testing, if you have the ability to use a different drive, please do so.  Always best to "test" with non-production hardware if/when possible - just in case.  Having a spare drive for this purpose may be well worth the up front cost of a new SSD (you can get good 250GB drives for about $65 these days).

Thanks for the advice, I have a couple of spare drives I can use.

Interestingly While I made progress on connecting to Nas shares using the KB articles, somewhere it created a new problem in that the entire c: drive refused to show up in the ATI dashboard. Did a repair, no dice. Uninstalled and we're back to normal with all drives and partitions available. Ah well, something to do on these wet winter days....
