Email notifications via free alternative to using Gmail?

Thread needs solution

Hi

Is there a free email service that will allow the Acronis notifcations?

Gmail requires lowered security settings to "allow less secure apps" which I dont want to do.

I'm often helping friends and colleagues setup their software. When setting the Acronis notifications I'm finding more and more services will not allow third party apps i.e Acronis to access their email servers.

Perhaps Acronis could host an email service specifically for the notifications?

Thank for any info.

B R, you should be able to use any email service but a lot of the 'free' ones tend to be based on Google Mail servers and the key issue is that ATI are using an older version of SSL which is deemed to be less secure.

I do use Gmail for all my email notifications but I have created a single purpose email account that is used only for this reason, so nothing else goes through that account apart from occasional messages from Google.  Doing this in this way means that I don't really care whether Gmail thinks ATI is less secure or not, I am not putting anything other than backup notifications / log information through that account.

Not sure if ATI 2017 has this feature, but for ATI 2018 you can set up global email configuration. The emails appear to be sent  sent by Acronis server rather than ATI itself. Only minimal configuration is required - report all backup events or only report failed backup attempts.
