Ignore files for sync

Thread needs solution

Hi!

I am evaluating Acronis True Image 2017. I would like to buy this software for three main reasons: 1. The back function of course, 2. The protection against ransomware! and 3. The sync function.

This question is about the sync function. I would like to know whether I can specify ignore patterns somehow, somewhere.

With syncthing I have this .stignore file where I specify which files to ignore. Where can I specify this with True Imaga?

Thanks in advance!

David, welcome to these user forums.

I would recommend taking a look through the ATIH 2017 User Guide section for Synchronizing data which covers all the basic functionality and options, then come back again if this doesn't answer your questions.

In reality, you may need to give this a try and test what you can and cannot do for your syncs.  (It is not a function that I use personally so I cannot speak to you from a point of my own experience of using sync).

Thanks Steve,

I did search first before resorting to asking. I could not find anything about specifiying ignore patterns. The TI user guide also does not talk about this. I think it must be possible.

Anyway, that leaves my question open: How to specify ignore patterns for the Acronis True Image Sync feature?

David, I have just created a basic sync task (non Cloud) on my computer and regardless of whether I select a single folder or the parent folder of multiple subfolders, there are no other options provided for the sync task.

So there are no options to configure file patterns to not be synchronised, it is either all or none based purely on the folders you either select or don't select for the source item.
