Normal for new cloud back up to take 61 days??

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I am a new Acronis 2016 trial user and I am trying to do a full cloud back up. The dashboared says that it will take 61 days to complete the basck up. Is this normal? I am not very technical and wonder if I the settings are not set up properly.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Cheers

Hi Gene,

backing up data to Acronis Cloud utilizes your internet upload stream. In most cases this is a tenth of your download speed.

If you have a 16MBit/s Internet Connection it will about 0.7 to 2 MBit/s as upload speed. It could take ~80 hrs for 50 GB.

Agreed.  Cloud is great for offsite recovery and safety, but since it relies on capped upload speeds from ISP's, it can be quite a bit slower than a local backup.  I would recommend running a local backup for your primary backup/recovery location and then work on getting the Cloud backup completed.  You can pause the cloud backup whenever you want to give the connecton a break or allow for local backups to run from time to time.  I took me about a week to upload about 500GB of photos initially, but now it only takes a couple of minutes to backup the changes (unless I add a bunch of new pictures).  In the event of recovery, it's going to be a bit faster, but it's still a little slow so I stick to localy backup/recovery which can be done in minutes (or hours) instead of days or weeks.  But, if my house catches on file, I still have the option to recover from the cloud if I need to go that route.

Thanks for the advice Bobbo,

I have deciced to back up everything on a local external drive and work on the cloud back up over a longer period of time.

Many thanks

Gene
