Pre-Purchase Questions
Hiya,
My trial period is on the verge of expiring; so decision time is here.
One of my questions is - Since I have the .zip file, and the unzipped file of the trial version, can I just re-enter the serial key - once I pay for it - and wouldn't that do the same thing as a back up disk?
Can I make a backup copy of the full version, thereby saving $20.00 in the process?
If I buy the $39.99 (as of this date,) for 1 computer, is that $39.99, every year, just like my virus software? I would imagine, if you don't pay, your software expires.
Is anyone using the 1-Time Purchase option?
Thanks,
xxx

So when you download the latest build, does that cost extra, provided I were to purchase the one time license?
Just to confirm, the subscription, is $39 year after year - or the program stops working. Just like the trial version. To that end anyway.
Thanks,
xxx

With a subscription, all major versions are included during your maintenance/subscription period (in addition to minor version releases and bug fixes while the major versionn is supported).
So let's say you purchase a 1 year subscription now and 2018 comes out next September... you would get to upgrade to 2018 for free for 3 months. However, subscriptions are completely depndent upon subscription being active. If you chose not to renew the subscription at the 1 year point, you could still recover your existing backups, but you won't be able to make any new ones as the subscription license would block those features when it becomes inactive. I have a feeling the offline recovery media would work just fine though, but not the features from within the Windows application.
If you like to stay current, a subscription would actually save some money each year. However, some people will buy a stand-a-lone version and not upgrade for a a year or 2 (saving money since they only had to buy that one instance)... as long as it keeps working with the current version of their OS and they can live with whatever features (or bugs) are present in that particular major version as of whatever the last update Acronis provided for it.

Yep, that's exactly how I thought it worked, I just wanted to make sure.
Thanks for your help..
