Question about Acronis Update
Hi all,
With an Acronis Update available, is there going to be any effect on my WinPE scripts for performing Bare Metal Recovery from my usb stick ? I don't think there should be any problems, but I thought it would be prudent to ask.

Sorry, I'm using big words I don't understand too well. I'm referring to the WinPE Rescue Media stored on my usb stick.

satwar, I would tend to rebuild my Rescue Media after any significant update to the main Acronis application in the view that this should also have made updates to the offline version too.

That's not what I wanted to hear. Building WinPE Rescue Media was a very painful process. I understand your thinking but it's not easy if you're only doing it once. Can you get a definitive answer from the programers/developers ? I would think they should warn people if the upgrade is going to have an impact, and I haven't read anything to that effect.

satwar, if your existing WinPE Rescue Media is doing all you want it to do and working fine for you, then stick with what you have as the upgrade may not offer you very much in terms of new function or usability.
Details of what changes may be included in the update and which may then have corresponding changes in the rescue media is described in forum post: 128766: !!Acronis True Image 2017 Update 2 for Perpetual and Standard subscription!! Most of the changes shown in the list in this post are mainly related to the Windows application but there are some that may also affect the bootable Rescue Media, for example:
- Recovery from a backup stored on a password-protected NAS failed.
- Unable to create Windows PE bootable media because of a Next button is unavailable in the wizard.
- Under bootable media, dynamic volumes are not shown in the recovery destination list.
- Unable to clone MBR disk partitions by using the As is method and the Copy partitions and use a disk as non-system, GTP-style option selected.

Okay, after updating Acronis I bit the bullet and used the MPV_ATIPEBuilder_v59 to create PE Recue Media and then used DISM GUI to show the path to the NAS storage device.
Everything seems to work fine and I noticed they fixed one path of the recovery wizard which doesn't allow you to proceed (missing Next key) in the restore process.

Glad to hear that all has gone well with recreating he WinPE media and you have found a benefit with the fix you found too.

If you have the time, try the advanced pe builder too. It is the same to run, just builds some customized WinPE. One advantage is a start menu and launch bar. A43 file explorer is on the bar and can be used to map network drives through a GUI in A43 file explorer.

Well I'm not sold on the advanced version yet. I do like the convenience of not having to worry about injecting the Raid SSD drivers (damn Dell).
What would be nice would be to eliminate the need to use DISM GUI to edit the startnet.cmd to define the network path to the backup files (In my case I'm using a NAS device.

This is a feature of the upcoming release - getting close.
